🌸🌸 Since 2012, a team of researchers from the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine has been studying how different types of music affect dogs’ stress levels. Over four months, they observed 117 dogs and found that, just like humans, both the genre and volume of music matter to dogs. Depending on the type and volume, music can either soothe your dog or upset them. Studies have shown that dogs react differently to various musical styles—so what kind of music do they actually enjoy?
🌸🌸 1. Light Music
Dogs love light music because its gentle, soothing tones ease their anxiety and restlessness, making them feel relaxed. Try playing light music for your dog, ideally pastoral tunes with natural sounds. For piano pieces, you can play Carol King’s Moonlight Sonata or Chopin’s Prelude in E-flat Major.
🌸🌸 2. Children’s Songs
Dogs enjoy children’s songs too. Their intelligence is comparable to that of young children, so the simple, cheerful melodies that kids love are like a musical feast for dogs.
🌸🌸 3. Classical Music
Classical music is perfect for dogs. With its slow rhythms and soft melodies, it helps reduce anxiety and stress, calming their minds and bodies. Additionally, classical music may even boost dogs’ intelligence and memory, aiding in brain development. If your dog barks excessively, playing classical music might work wonders.
🌸🌸 4. Harp Music
The sound of the harp has a calming effect on dogs. Many restless, tense, or rapid-breathing dogs respond positively to harp music. Dogs perceive the harp’s range and pitch differently from humans; its vibrations resonate with their bodies, like a gentle massage, bringing them relaxation and comfort.
🌸🌸 5. Sound-Making Toys
Most dogs are fascinated by sound-making toys. These toys mimic the sounds of prey, making dogs feel like they’re hunting—a source of endless fun!
🌸🌸 6. “Woof Chorus”
Dogs love listening to other dogs’ barks. Woof Chorus, a song composed of various dog barks, is surprisingly peaceful and beloved by many dogs. You can download it for your pup to enjoy.
🌸🌸 7. Their Owner’s Soft Voice
Finally, the sound dogs love most is their owner’s voice. They have a special affection for their owner’s calls and gentle tones. After all, interacting with and 陪伴 ing your dog is the best “sound” of all!
