- Letting your cat drink tap water
Tap water contains many impurities. If a cat drinks tap water for a long time, these impurities can easily accumulate in its body and form stones. Male cats, in particular, are prone to urinary diseases. It’s better to give your cat pure water or cooled boiled water! - Overfeeding your cat to make it obese
Many cat owners think the fatter their cat is, the better. They get excited when they see their cat gaining weight and keep overfeeding it, leading to obesity. An obese cat may have difficulty moving and is at risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis, which significantly shortens its lifespan! - Not providing enough water sources
A cat’s body is about 70% water, so water is vital to its life. Long-term insufficient water intake can cause dehydration, urinary stones, and other health issues. Therefore, always ensure there is clean, fresh water at home and change it regularly. - Ignoring their psychological needs
Cats are very sensitive animals. They need not only physical care but also psychological attention. Long-term loneliness and neglect can lead to behavioral problems and stress, such as scratching furniture or inappropriate toileting. - Not brushing your cat’s teeth
Oral health is crucial to a cat’s overall well-being. Neglecting dental care can lead to tartar, gingivitis, and other oral problems. Brush your cat’s teeth regularly and provide appropriate dental care foods and toys. - Bathing your cat too frequently
Many cat owners think their cats are dirty and bathe them too often. This can easily cause stress in cats that are afraid of bathing, and in severe cases, it may even be life-threatening. Frequent bathing can also damage the oil layer on their skin, leading to excessive shedding or even skin diseases.
