Many pet owners recently complained that their furbabies are frantically scratching their ears, with some ears smelling foul and oily… In fact, cat ear diseases vary in severity, such as cat ear mites and Malassezia infections. Today, learn to judge the severity by color and symptoms to prescribe the right remedy and avoid wasting money! 👇
Level 1: Normal Ear Wax
✅ Regular cleaning (once every 1–2 weeks).
Level 2: Cat Ear Mites
⚠ Symptoms: Intense itching.
✅ Treatment for ear mites:
Ear cleaning solution + Yierjing (apply continuously for the first 3 days, then once every 3 days, adhere to a 21-day cycle).
Level 3: Cat Malassezia Infection
⚠ Symptoms: Reddened ears, sticky yellow-black oily debris.
✅ Treatment for Malassezia:
Boric acid borneol (diluted 1:1 with normal saline) + Yierjing (apply continuously for the first 4 days, then every other day, persist for 7 days).
Level 4: Mixed Infection
✅ Management:
Aolong ear cleaning solution + Yierjing + Itraconazole (oral medication).
Combining internal and external treatment speeds recovery; liver health supplements are recommended.
Level 5: Otitis Externa Alert!
✅ Management:
Aolong ear cleaning solution + Yierjing (focus on anti-inflammation).
Veterinary clinics also use Yierjing applied to urinary catheters for anti-inflammatory purposes.
⚠ Final Reminders:
➤ Never use cotton swabs/paper towels to forcefully clean! They can damage the ear canal.
➤ Can’t distinguish between ear mites and Malassezia? Yierjing works for both.
➤ Always dry the ears thoroughly after bathing; moisture = breeding ground for germs!
