After raising dogs for a long time, you’ll realize 🐶 that when dogs lick these areas, they’re trying to convey a message
We all know dogs love licking people 👅 – so much so that the term “licking dog” was even coined. But why do dogs 🐶 always want to lick you? And what do different licking spots mean?
1. Licking your feet – “Showing submission and seeking favor”
When a dog licks your feet, it’s a sign of pleading and submission. In the canine world, weaker puppies lick stronger ones to show submission and seek protection. If your dog often licks your feet, congratulations – it has recognized you as its master!
2. Licking your mouth – “Expressing love”
Humans aren’t the only ones who show love through kissing – dogs do too! Dogs learn to mimic human behavior to express their feelings, so when they lick your mouth, it’s their way of kissing you – a bold display of affection!
3. Licking your hands – “Expressing needs”
When a dog rubs against and licks your hands while looking at you with eager eyes, it’s usually expressing a need: begging for food, seeking pets, or wanting to play. This is the time to give it a treat and take it out to play!
4. Licking its own nose – “Feeling nervous or afraid”
Dogs occasionally lick their noses to keep them moist and maintain their sense of smell. But if a dog frequently licks its nose, it means it’s in a state of tension or fear, using this action to relieve stress. This is when you should offer more comfort and companionship!
✨ Dogs communicate in their own unique ways. The next time your furry friend licks you, take a moment to understand what it’s trying to say – it might just be sending you a heartfelt message!
